Cry of the Urban Poor
Published in Paperback by Marc Publications (June, 1992)
Average review score:

Cry of the Urban PoorHonest, real, and practical. This book is awesome for those who are working in the slums of any city in the world. This guy understands people and ministry. It is a MUST if you are teaching Jesus in the slums.
Hope for the SlumsCry of the Urban Poor is a wake-up call for the American church. Viv Grigg explains the nature of the slums of today's two-thirds world megacities, and issues a call for action. He describes the Western Church's participation in, and response to, Asian slums, and challenges evangelicals to learn about institutional oppression. This book is richly written, with mature and sharp passion backed by solid, global understanding both of the gospel, and economics. Read it!

Decoupage and Decorative Paint Finishes: Creating Treasures Out of Everyday Objects
Published in Hardcover by Reader's Digest Adult (April, 1996)
Average review score:

Sophisticated DecoupagingI have to say that out of what I have seen in decoupage books and artists, Rubena Grigg has it over all. In my book, sophisticated wins out especially after one is continually confronted with the endless stream of cutesy, mediocrity in so many "crafts" today. This lady is an artisan!
Her pictures are quite good and her decoupaged tabletop along with the black ground floral tin pitchers are BREATHTAKING....no overkill here...they are my personal favorites.
The instructions, although not pictorial are adequate and the pictures will definitely inspire you to get started....I know I want to!
For incredible inspiration alone, this book is worth the purchase.
InspiringThis is not a book on technique, but I wouldn't sell it for the world. Rubena is truly an artist, and just picking up her book, makes me want to do decoupage. I actually bought it to learn more about varnishing methods, and she does explain that well, but to me it's more a source of ideas.
Every project in her book, she explains in detail how she accomplished it.
If you buy it you won't be sorry if you like decoupage.

The Psychoses 1955-1956 (Seminar of Jacques Lacan (Paper), Bk 3)
Published in Paperback by W.W. Norton & Company (July, 1997)
Average review score:

Lacan and the fatherLacan's seminars are superior to his articles because he clearly is addressing an audience, and needs to make himself understood, but he has already anticipated all of his students questions, as if he could read their minds: "I know what you're thinking." The argument of the third seminar is easy to summarize: the psychotic, because foreclosed from the father, faces a hole in the imaginary that is filled by the symbolic (or is it the other way around?), hence the hallucinations and voices. The psychotic always imagines that somewhere the big Other resides, in this world, like the man who broke into the US capital because there was a time machine inside that was trying to control his mind. The psychotic is in fact unable to distinguish the small from the big other. Lacan is always thought to be a little mad himself, something of a fraud, "il gagne beaucoup d'argent," and even Heidegger gave up reading Ecrits because he couldn't make sense of it, and he does make something of a display of his learning (not so much in this seminar). That said, there is something to Lacan, and eventually he will get his due, and outside the narrow circle of his devotees.
A Lacan to be ReadThe work of Jacques Lacan is infamous for the often obtuseness of its language and presentation. It is often said that the reader must work hard at Lacan to reach a glimmer of understanding. The work of Dr Russell Grigg as translator to this edition certainly gives the reader a head start. Dr Grigg address the work of Lacan from a new perspective of the 21st century, nolonger happy for the work to remain arcane and cloistered from the reading public, but he throws open the windows of further understanding for those willing to look and read closer the work of this French master. An excellent work.

Rocklady: The Building of a Labyrinth
Published in Paperback by Peace Rock Publishing (01 September, 2001)
Average review score:

Rocklady The Building of a LabyrinthMy dad got the book from a friend related to Mrs Griggs and gave it to me to read. I started to read it and I couldn't stop. I liked the story about the crows. I just thought it was really good. I'm 12 years old and my dad said it was on amazon.com and I wanted to check it out. I'm going to tell my friends where to get it.
Talking With RockladyRocklady, The Building Of A Labyrinth, by Norah Griggs, a very profound and easy read. It will make you laugh and cry and will inspire you to follow your dreams. Norah, tells of her own struggle in the "labyrinth" of life. And of how much beauty there is to be seen in everything that happens along the path. She explains that with every bad turn there is a good turn, with every negative there is a positive, and that it must remain that way in order to keep balance in our lives. I anxiously await her next book.

From the Midwest Book ReviewThe Tao of Being explores the relationship between the spirit of thinking and doing by way of the Tao. Average review score:

The book for WW II historyThe battle of the general spells out the huge fight that existed within the allied camp during the war. Patton and Montgomery didn't like each other and the Bradley/Patton relationship wasn't much better. Dr. Blumenson does a excellent job of showing how close the allies came to ending the war 10 month earlier. It's a book to add to your collection.
